IDF 2005

idf_pdf.jpg Held in Bangkok between October 22 and 26, 2005, the International Diabetes Federation-Western Pacific Region (IDF-WPR) congress is the most significant regional diabetes congress in Asia Pacific organized every 3 years.

The Congress theme was "A better Life for Diabetes". This forum aimed at improving life of diabetic patients. Everyone involved in diabetes research, therapy and care had the opportunity to demonstrate their topics of diabetology, and update the latest advances on clinical treatment and prevention. Also the exhibitions from pharmaceutical and medical technology demonstrated the update achievements.

Bayer HealthCare was pleased to organize a satellite symposium at the IDF-WPR Congress highlighting the Glucobay benefits in IGT and type 2 diabetes. The title of the satellite symposium was: "Cardiovascular risk prevention in Diabetes – Pathways to effective intervention" on October 23, 2005.

Preceded by Professor Zimmet's talk on epidemiology, lectures were also given on Glucobay by Profoessor Karasik from Israel, who is a member of the STOP-NIDDM Steering Committee, and on Adalat by Professor Elliott from the UK.

The outcome of IDF-WRP was a roaring success. Both Bayer HealthCare Diabetes Care and Pharma used the opportunity to reinforce the strong brand presence of Glucobay, as well as Adalat and Ascencia at the event.
